With its vision of everyone and everything participating on the network, Sun is creating open technologies and solutions that further fuel communities and power the Participation Age. One of such technologies is Java - object oriented programming language developed in early 1990s and adopted by millions of developers worldwide. The Sun Microsystems department in Prague that is participating in KIWI is a part of Sun's Software organization, and is mostly responsible for the end-to-end development of the NetBeans platform and IDE. Both the platform and the IDE are open source products, developed by various groups and communities, participating on different parts of the development process.
